Weekly Photo Challenge: “Ready to Run!” (Cheetah)
This is a great theme for me! My first thought went to the beautiful cheetah a photographed. She was the first animal we saw when we entered the great plains of the Serengeti National Park in Tanzania. This shot captures her as she crouches down a termite mound that she was using to scope out the surroundings. How do I know that she was a she? She was obviously pregnant, and very lovely (see photo below). She reminds me of that movie “Runaway Bride,” with the Dixie Chicks song, “Ready to Run.” Looking forward to seeing what you have all posted, too.
Cheers!

Very intense, the low angle captures her perfectly. The first shot has the same look in the eye as my cat on the prowl.
Thanks, Meg. It was neat to see how much the big cats behave like the little cats!

I fear for that cheetah’s prey. http://wp.me/pdJ7S-w8
Yes, surprisingly, her prey have a pretty good chance with her being so pregnant.

Both photos are amazing, and the second is conventionally stunning. But there’s something about the intensity of that first one that makes it super special.
