Weekly Photo Challenge: Hands (Photos from the “Children of the Waves” Series)
HANDS have strength. They help us hold back, hold up, hold on. Hands give us the power to try against all odds. Hands have strength.
***
HANDS have grace. They point, lead, draw, paint, press, write, express. Hands help us rise above the chaos and bring order, rhyme and reason to life. Hands have grace.
****
HANDS are industrious. They help us dig, build, drive, fly, text, post, ride, work, and recreate. They help us create communities and countries. Hands are industrious.
****
HANDS are competitive. They help us climb, reach, stretch, pull, push, paddle, sail, swing, celebrate, and try again. They help us reach for and meet our goals. Hands are competitive.
***
HANDS are loving. They help us touch, stroke, tease, tickle, hold, lift, lay, wash, rub, and sometimes bleed. They help us create families, pairs, friends, and faith. Hands are loving.
HANDS are many things. They help make us human.

All fun photos, but I love the paintograhy. You can’t go wrong with kids and the sea. 🙂
Couldn’t agree with you more! I like how this version of paintography boils things down to color and action.
~Anne
So that’s called Paintography.
Love the creative touches you’ve added to your photos !
It is one digital darkroom technique that would fall under the umbrella of paintography, which really just means using digital darkroom techniques to alter the photo to make it look more like paintings or drawings or other artistic techniques.
Thanks!
~Anne
The top image is tops. 🙂
Isn’t that a rip? I remembered trying to hold the waves back at one point in my childhood. I had a good chuckle when I saw those kids!
~Anne
Nice photos. I can just imagine the faces on the boys holding back the wave.I had no idea this type of digital editing was called paintography.
Paintography is a general term from digital manipulations that make the photos look more like paintings. I like the word – descriptive. Thanks, I glad you enjoyed the photos.
~Anne
It is nice to see others who like to experiment, especially with good results… Great pictures, and thank you for your comments on my site.. always welcome..
Hi Cobbies! Glad you enjoyed them – I so enjoy working with digital painting techniques. Glad to visit your site, too!
~Anne
Ditto and thank you. 😉
I love the images!
Thank you, Pinay! Kids are so fun, and kids at the beach are the best.
~Anne
Anne,
The paintography is a cool look. I really like the first photo for the topic the way the boys have their hands out as if they could stop the waves…:-)
Thank you, Susan. I was originally going to post only the first photo, but then I got into a roll. It happens sometimes! ~Anne
Love to the first photo! It is like the kids are saying: “STOP!” Nice capture!!
Thanks, Rick!!
~Anne
They all are very lovely pictures and I love your creative works to the pictures. I like the first and the last one the most. 🙂
Thanks for the comment, Inge. Glad you enjoyed them.

Reminds me of King Canute 🙂
Hi Dailydose. thanks for the visit. I had to look up King Canute, which was an interesting bit of history. How do the photos remind you of him?
~Anne
The tale says that King Canute put his throne by the sea shore and commanded the tide to halt. Needless to say, it did not work.
The arms of the children reminded me of the King’s attempt to command the sea.
It’s an old tale that I had forgotten, so thanks for bringing back the memory.
I appreciate you explaining the tale to me. Thanks!
~Anne

I love the very first image – I remember being that age and trying to hold back the waves… then shouting with glee when they tossed us around and we bobbed in the surf. Great memories!
Isn’t is wonderful? I did the same. Must be something about that age. I’m happy the photo brought back great memories. Thanks for commenting.
~Anne
